This is a hands-on Senior IT Technical Lead role aligned with the Code Conversion Program, a high-impact initiative focused on transitioning Workplace Solutions off the mainframe by 2026. This program is not only strategically critical—it also has direct visibility to the Vanguard Board of Directors and is widely regarded as one of the most impactful initiatives currently underway.
As a technical leader, you’ll drive the evaluation, selection, and integration of modern technologies across diverse platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Java and AWS, and will play a key role in shaping scalable, secure, and forward-thinking solutions while mentoring teams and collaborating across functions.
**This hybrid role can be based in either Malvern, PA, or Charlotte, NC. **
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead critical IT initiatives across platforms, providing expert guidance on architecture, design, and implementation. Oversee complex development efforts and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Solution Oversight: Evaluate and approve technical deliverables, ensuring functionality, security, and performance. Provide production support and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Problem Solving & Innovation: Identify and resolve technical challenges, conduct root cause analysis, and proactively mitigate risks. Guide less experienced staff to prevent potential issues.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with stakeholders to assess the impact of change requests and influence decision-making through clear, persuasive communication.
- Technology Strategy & Mentorship: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Mentor team members and promote adoption of new standards and tools.
- Documentation & Standards: Review and author technical documentation, ensuring clarity and compliance with organizational standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion quality improvements in development methodologies, tools, and technical standards.
- Development Excellence: Write clean, maintainable code with automated tests and reusable components. Apply modern development practices to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Team Enablement: Enhance team productivity through collaboration and implementation of robust frameworks. Anticipate and resolve technical issues before they escalate.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure all deliverables meet IT and Information Security policies. Collaborate across departments to strengthen compliance practices.
- Business Process Alignment: Understand front, middle, and back-office operations to design systems that support efficient and controlled business processes, including those involving external partners.
- Special Projects: Contribute to strategic initiatives and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum 4-6+ years of relevant IT experience, including at least 3-5 years in software development.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
